I think it’s better that we’re complete opposites.
You, a boy,
me, a girl;
(besides stating the obvious)
You would rather stay indoors,
It would be better if I went out more;
You love all kinds of food,
I would be content with eating only a few;
You like being straight to the point,
I would take a few detours here and there;
You don’t usually care what other people think,
I, on the other hand… … well.
It might be better for us to be complete opposites
than to be same in almost all aspects possible
despite thinking, “it’d be nice if we were the same,”
we would not grow anymore–that’d be lame
maybe 5-8 months tops, we break up–
end of story.
But it’s not.
And I hope it won’t be for a few more years…
maybe my whole lifetime. Maybe yours.
We wouldn’t know who’d die first,
but it would be nice if I spent it with you.
It’s best for us to be complete opposites
not because of the saying, “opposites attract”–no,
that is not my point here–
but because that means we are different in lots of ways
you fill up the emptiness inside of me,
I shed some light to your dark days.
Although sometimes these differences make it difficult:
you look up to the past
I look up to the future,
it brings a sort of balance
when we are together.
I know that we are complete opposites.
Sometimes, this is hard to accept
but knowing that you are just across me,
that the only thing left to do
is go towards you
and you would do the same for me
by the time we meet in the middle,
we would have changed indefinitely.
Thank you for teaching me the ways that are not mine,
for without you, I wouldn’t be able to know
what lies on the other side, on your side.
