baggage, ideas, personal, thoughts

Fleshing out my webcomic idea!

Coming from this post, I want to talk about the idea for a webcomic that has been on my mind for a while.

Where it started

It started with the idea of baggage. What is baggage?

According to Google,¬†“baggage” can mean either:

  1. personal belongings packed in suitcases for traveling; luggage.
  2. past experiences or long-held ideas regarded as burdens and impediments.

These¬†two things are things I want present in¬†the webcomic I have in mind. I would create characters¬†and their backstories with the idea that they should all have certain things they are going through. The comic would then be about the lives of these people, and how the deal with¬†the “baggage” that they carry around with them.

I will also, of course, have them carry bags. It is in my nature to push puns to their fullest potential!

What I have so far

I’ve sketched certain characters already, but I have¬†yet to flesh out their actual backstories and¬†their personalities. On the surface, some of the character’s personalities might already be obvious, but I wouldn’t want to go the easy route and just¬†stop there. I want to practice creating whole characters, not flat ones.

I also posted these on my art blog,¬†but I might migrate here… maybe. ;)

Anyway!

I still need to think about these more. For one, there aren’t a lot of guys, and I find it hard to draw guys, too. This could be a great chance for me to practice and keep practicing the things I find hard to do at first. It also gives me a chance to experiment, something I haven’t really done when sketching.

As for where to post them, I’m not sure yet. I’ve been thinking of putting them up in Tapastic, which is a cool platform altogether.

I’m also not sure yet if I’ll create¬†all digitally, traditionally, or a mix of both. The last one is something I have¬†the most experience in doing, because before I would sketch on paper, scan it to my computer, then proceed to color it in there. I haven’t really made a lot of¬†“pure” works, so I’m not sure if I’d settle for just one method. I’ll just¬†do what I feel like doing in the¬†future.

So far, that’s all I have for this. I’m going to¬†be busy for the next month, so¬†I might not be¬†able to work on this as much as I want to. Nevertheless, I at least know that¬†I have something I can do during my free time! :)
